Frank Henry Boelk, son of Charles and Caroline Boelk, was born March 8, 1893 at the Boelk farm home in Milford township, near Nevada. He was taken ill on Monday, August 1, 1955 and was taken to the Story County hospital in Nevada, where after an illness of just two weeks, he passed away at 12:25 p. m. Tuesday, August 16, at the age of 62. Death was due to a stroke.

Frank spent his boyhood days on the farm in Milford township, here he attended rural school, and later Richland township just north of Fernald, where he farmed with his father in his youth and later for himself. In 1920 he was married to Leila Menzel, and to them was born one daughter, Darlene. He stayed on the home place and farmed until 1931, at which time he moved to Fernald for a year. In March 1932 they moved to the Richard Anderson farm, whom he worked for until June 1954, at which time they moved to Nevada where the family home has been since that time. he has been employed at Iowa State college for the past fourteen months.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter Darlene, Mrs. William Allen, and her husband of Nevada, and three sisters; Viola, Mrs. Everil Baker of Ames; Hazel, Mrs. William Neeld of Fernald and Lena, Mrs. Elmer Prescott of Nevada; and two grandsons, Johnnie Bill and Randy Kent Allen; all of whom are greatly bereaved at his sudden passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters; Clara, Hattie, Lizzie, Mrs. Leon Zumwalt, Minnie, Mrs. Aaron Fitch and Ella, Mrs. Ray Chitty.

Frank was a member of Memorial Lutheran church of Nevada united with St. Paul's Lutheran church, 1910. Although not an active community man he was a lover of children, and he greatly enjoyed his two grandchildren. He was a quiet man, but was always happy and jolly, and was always helping others.

Frank never had a sick day in his life, so his unexpected and sudden death comes as a great shock to his many relatives and friends.

Relatives from a distance attending were Mrs. Alice Mountain of Mankato, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Leornard Zumwalt of Columbia, Missouri and others from McCallburg, Zearing, Fernald, Ames, Slater, Story City, Roland, State Center, Des Moines, Colo, St. Anthony, Gilbert and Nevada.
