Hold Final Rites For Former Maxwell Man

Funeral rites for Arthur Grant Mead, Beckley, West Virginia, business man, formerly of Maxwell, were held Sunday, Feb. 13, in the St. Stephen Episcopal church with the Rev. John A. Wilson officiating and the local Masonic order handling the graveside services.

The following life sketch was read by the pastor: Arthur Mead came to Beckley, March 1904, from Maxwell, Iowa, and went into the jewelry business with Jack Bardil and was later a partner in the store with R. A. Body. He disposed of the jewelry business in 1933 and with F. S. Williams organized the Beckley Motor company and was elected president of the company in 1936, which position he held until the time of his death.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Pearl Keister Mead of Dry Hill road; one sister, Mrs. A. U. Edwards (Nettie) of Beckley; two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Thompson of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Mrs. Evelyn parson, and three grandchildren, Alford Mead Parson, Elizabeth Parson and Russell, Jr., Parson, of Beckley. Burial was made in the Sunset Memorial Park.
