Hold Final Services For Floyd E. Carver
Funeral services for Floyd E. Carver, 57, prominent farmer of the Maxwell community, who passed away at 7 o'clock Sunday morning at his home from a heart attack, were held Tuesday afternoon from the Cooper-Moore Funeral Home in Maxwell.
The rites were in charge of the Rev. E. S. Blomquist of the Maxwell Methodist church.
Music was furnished by Eldon Geisler and Mrs. Dale Harter of Mingo. Mr. Geisler, soloist, sang "The End of a Perfect Road" and "The Lord's Prayer."
Casket bearers were Harlan Carver, Jesse Carver, Till Carver, Steve Ingman, Dale Pearson and N. Jay Pearson.
Flower tokens of love and esteem were many and most beautiful.
A large number of friends from various places joined the Maxwell community in paying a last tribute of respect to the deceased and his family. The funeral home was filled to capacity.
Obituary
Rev. Blomquist read the following brief life sketch during the services: Floyd Carver, son of Jabez and Ursula Carver, was born on Feb. 9, 1892, in Jasper county, Iowa and passed away at his home, near Maxwell, on Sunday, Dec. 4, of a heart ailment at the age of 57 years, nine months and 24 days. he came with his parents to Washington township, Polk county, where he resided at the time of his departure.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister. On May 27, 1916, he was united in marriage to Lina Wickward [should be Wickard]. Three children were born of this union: Byron F., Mrs. Edith Huffaker and Mrs. Ruth Link, all of near Maxwell.
His entire life was spent in the vicinity of Maxwell. He was one of the charter members of the Washington township Farm Bureau. Friends and neighbors of the community will miss him and the ready service and helpfulness he was always ready to lend to anyone, when the need called for it.
Survivors
He leaves, besides his wife, Lina; his mother, Mrs. Ursula Carver; one son, Byron; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Edith) Huffaker and Mrs. Russell (Ruth) Link, and seven grandchildren, all of Maxwell.
