Funeral Services Held on Sunday for O. N. Jory

Maxwell, May 16--Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock for O. N. Jory in the Presbyterian church in charge of his pastor, the Rev. David S. Russell of the Elwell Evangelical church, assisting Mrs. Ray Gooden sang "There Will Be No Tears In Paradise," "Sunrise Tomorrow" and "In the Garden."

Flower tokens, symbols of respect, esteem and love were many and most beautiful. Pallbearers were Charles Setzer, Will Holland, Ray Reynolds, Bert Kirk and Harry and Henry Thornvall. Burial was made in the Center Grove cemetery. Rev. de Best read the following brief life sketch:

Orville Norman Jory, son of John and Minerva Jory was born June 14, 1874 on the home farm in Story county. On October 30, 1907 he was united in marriage to Mabel Neghart [should be Neyhart] at Cantor, S. D. [should be Canton, S. D.] To this union three daughters were born, Eleanor, Mrs. B. M. Becker of Corpus Christi, Tex.; Jeannie, Mrs. Chambers of Paso Roble, Cal., and Norma, Mrs. Flecher of Burlington, Va. Mr. Jory was devoted to his family, a good neighbor and loyal citizen and had made many friends during his life time. He professed faith in Jesus Christ and united with the Evangelical church at Elwell and later transferred his membership to the Presbyterian church at Maxwell.

Besides his wife and 3 daughters he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Charles Richardson of Cambridge, four granddaughters and one great-grandson. There are many neighbors and friends who with the immediate family regret the passing of this good man.
