Funeral Services Sunday Afternoon for W. D. Cooper

Colo, Aug. 19--Funeral services for W. D. Cooper, 77, well known farmer who died at his farm home south of Colo; August 13, were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30, with Rev. Keith Orr in charge.

Mrs. Lois Yeager and Mrs. Merle Dickinson sang two songs with Theodore Christianson at the piano.

Following the service at the home the body was laid to rest in the Colo cemetery. Casket bearers were Herbert White, Gene Hemping, Ross White, Charles Fleming, Charles Lehman and Ralph Thornton.

The following brief life sketch of the deceased was read by the minister during the service:

"Wilbur Darwin Cooper, the son of Joshua and Elizabeth Cooper, was born on July 6, 1865, and departed from this life on August 13, 1942, at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 7 days.

"At the age of 21, he was united in marriage to Sarah Virginia Coughenour on Sept. 23, 1886, and to this union were born one son and two daughters.

"Wilbur Cooper was the youngest member of a family of two brothers and one sister. He leaves to mourn his passing a brother, Porter Cooper of Axial, Colo., one sister, Mrs. Mary Crawford of Los Angeles, Calif.; his loving and faithful wife; one son, Carl Cooper of Colo; two daughters, Mrs. John Dawson and Mrs. Ed Dolph, also of Colo; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren, plus a host of other relatives and friends.

"At the age of 21 the deceased accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and became an active member of the Dalton United Brethren church. It was from this church that he and his family transferred their membership to the Colo Evangelical church.

"Down through the passing years on the farm where he was born and lived and died our loved one became a loving husband, a devoted father, and a loyal, kind neighbor. Upholding the Christian ideals throughout his entire life, he won for himself a place in the hearts of many who have gone on before him and who now remain to mourn his passing."
