Funeral Services for Mrs. Morrison Who Died In California

Special to the Journal
Collins, June 21--Funeral services for the late Mrs. Mollie Morrison, 57, who passed away at Riverside, California, after a lingering illness where held from the Methodist church at Mingo, Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The body arrived in Collins early Friday morning and was taken to the home of her daughter Mrs. Clyde Keagle.

The services were in charge of Mrs. Halverson, pastor of the Mingo church. A mixed quartet from Mingo composed of Mrs. Lou Neal, Mrs. Iva Eubank, Eldon Geisler and Floyd Hulse, with Mrs Carrie Hayes as accompanist sang, "No Disappointment in Heaven," "In the Garden," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Some Day We'll Understand." The floral offerings were very beautiful and were arranged by Mrs. Ora Hanson and Mrs. O. N. Serbein of Collins. Interment was in the Ashton cemetery, southeast of Collins, the pallbearers being Donald Fuller, Dick Russell, Forrest Inglis, Roy Westfall, William Green and Dennis Cummings, all of Mingo.

The following obituary was rad by the pastor. Mollie Colwell Morrison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Colwell was born April 14, 1881 at Mongo, La Grange county, Indiana. At the age of four years she came to Iowa with her mother, settling at Mingo where her home had been since that time. Her father passed away when she was two years of age. In 1898 she was united in marriage to William Morrison and to this union two children were born. They are Mrs. Mabel Keagle of Collins and Carl Morrison, who lives south of Collins. She is survived also by eight grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Edd Borts of Spencer and a host of friends. Mrs. Morrison was engaged in the restaurant business at Mingo for a number of yeas disposing of the business about a year ago when her health began to fail. Since that time she made her home with her daughter at Collins and for a time with her sister at Spencer.

She went to California in March hoping to regain her health and for a time seemed greatly improved. After an attack of flu she grew rapidly worse and passed away early Monday morning, June 13.

The funeral services were very largely attended, for the deceased was widely known and loved by those who were privileged to call her friend.
