Funeral Service Held at Maxwell for Mary E. Evans

Special to the Journal:
Maxwell, May 10--Funeral services for Mary E. Evans were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Presbyterian church with Rev. H. D. Robinson in charge. A quartette composed of Clair Olinger, Mrs. H. C. Larsen, Mrs. J. E. Bowen and Ross Olinger, sang three numbers, "There Will Be No Dark Valley," "Face To Face," and "Under His Wings." He nephews, Tommy Dawson, Berl Bell, Ernie Sapp, Merle Brown and Ray and Will Evans were the pall bearers. The floral tokens were many and very beautiful. Burial was in the Day Cemetery southeast of Collins.

The pastor read the following obituary.

Mary Elizabeth Davidson, daughter of John and Sarah Davidson, was born in Marshall County, Iowa, Jan. 1, 1861, and departed this life May 6 at the home of her son Willis at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 5 days.

Her husband, 3 daughters and 3 sons preceded her in death.

She was united in marriage to Jacob Evans, and to this union were born 4 sons and 3 daughters.

She leaves to mourn her loss, one son, Willis, 12 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two brothers, George Davidon of Colorado, W. L. Davidson of Washington, besides a host of relatives and friends.

She united with the Methodist church when a girl of which she was still a member.

She had lived her entire life in and around Maxwell.

She lived very close to her Savior and was fully prepared for the transition from this life to the better one beyond.
