THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, June 20, 1918, page 1. "GEO. S. EATWELL - George Stephen Eatwell was born in Jasper county, Iowa, two miles east of Farrar, December 6, 1868, and died suddenly of heart failure at his home in Jasper county, June 13, 1918, aged forty-eight years, six months and seven days. He grew to manhood upon the old Eatwell homestead, learning the business of a practical farmer and respected by all who knew him. He was married to Margaret Rowena Longnecker November 19, 1893. To this happy union six fine children were born, are left to mourn the departure of their loving father and to be a help and comfort to the bereaved, widowed mother. The children are: Mrs. Simpson Huntrod, of Maxwell, and Treva, Laura, Orlando, Eldon and Mary at home with mother. His aged mother, three brothers and three sisters, with three grandchildren and a very large number of near relatives, also a host of friends are left to lament his hasty departure. The brothers and sisters are: Cyrus J., of Mingo, Iowa; Albert C., of Zearing, Iowa; James M., of Scottsbluff, Neb.; Mrs. Chas. Long, Mrs. James Dunlap and Mrs. Mary Dorsey, of Farrar, Iowa. His father and one sister had preceded him in death. Mr. Eatwell was converted and joined the Farrar Methodist Protestant church in 1903, since which time he has lived a consistent Christian, often expressing to his pastor his faith in the promises of the beyond. "Therefore we do not suffer as those that have no hope, but put our hope in God, believing that they that are dead, that believed in Him, will live again." An immense throng of people attended the funeral services, which were held at Farrar, and conducted by his pastor, Sunday, June 16th. Thus passes a good man. God bless and sustain the bereaved. J. C. McCain, Pastor."
