Committal Service For Mrs. Wm. F. Ball Friday Afternoon
Funeral service for Mrs. Wm. F. Ball who passed away Wednesday at the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames was held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Nevada Church of Christ.
Rev. C. V. Pence of Laurens, former Nevada pastor, officiated at the service which was largely attended.
Miss Virginia Bierschwal was at the piano playing a number of appropriate hymns and accompanying Esther Kurtz Albaugh who sang "Lullaby."
The casket was banked with the many floral offerings, which were the silent expressions of sympathy felt in the passing of this wife and mother.
The pallbearers were Cory Kurtz, Roy Barrow, Herbert Patterson, Lee Cook, Isaac Tudor and Hessel Bierma.
The following brief obituary was read by the officiating minister was as follows:
"Mary Belle Boston was born at McCallsburg, Ia., Feb. 23, 1903, a daughter of Hugh Emory and Patience Boston. She graduated form the Nevada high school with the class of 1922 and for several years taught in the Story county schools. She also taught church school in Nevada and was a teacher and at one time superintendent of the Church of Christ Sunday School.
She was married to William F. Ball of Nevada, March 26, 1928 and to this union two children were born, Russel age 9 and Ella May age 6, who with the husband and father survive her. Also surviving her are two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Olson of Nevada and Mrs. Martin Sherwood of Richmond, Ind. and one brother, Ralph Boston of Nevada.
Mrs. Ball was a member of the Nevada Woman's club, a past regent of Solomon Dean Chapter, D. A. R., a member of Chapter No. 296, Order of the Eastern Star, of the Woodman Circle and of the Nevada Church of Christ.
In attendance at the funeral service were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Sherwood of Richmond, Inc.; Mrs. Frank Houseman of Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Boston, Mrs. Ella Boston, Mrs. Irene Morris of McCallsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Britten of Zearing; Mike Olson of Story City, Miss Bertha Ball of Toledo, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Emery Olson of Stratford, Ella Wyatt of Manning, Mr. and Mrs. John Sorenson of Elkhart, MR. and Mrs. Will Gilgen of Melbourne, Mrs. James Westphal of State Center, Mrs. George Christian of Story City, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Ball of Eldora, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mathis of Elkhart, and Mr. and Mrs. Bastion Boston of Kellogg.
Committal service was delayed until the arrival of the husband and father, Lieutenant Wm. F. Ball, who arrived Thursday night from India where he had been since last May.
