Last Rites for Frank Patterson At Maxwell

Funeral services for the late Frank Patterson, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Alverson at Maxwell, Tuesday morning Sept. 17, 1946, were held in the United Brethren church at Collins Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p. m. The Rev. C. E. Lookingbull of Nevada had charge of the services.

Mrs. K. W. Tomlinson with Mrs. Hugh Fertig as accompanist sang two solos "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Going Down the Valley." The many lovely floral offerings were arranged at the church and grave by Mrs. Ora Hanson and Mrs. O. N. Serbein. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Collins by the side of his fie and children. The pallbearers were Curt Campbell, Charles Vasey, Dewey Kern, Chas. Waltz, C. R. Stone and Wm. Fitzgerald.

The following brief obituary was read by the pastor.

Frank Patterson, son of Jane and Joseph Patterson, was born on June 30, 1864 at New Albany, Ind., and departed this life on the morning of Sept. 17, 1946. He was joined in marriage in February of 1893 to Ruth Shawen and shortly thereafter moved to Iowa, settling in Story Co. where he resided until his death.

To this union were born eight children, two of whom with his wife preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his passing six children, Roy of South Dakota; Charles of Maxwell, Florence (Mrs. Fred Alverson of Maxwell); Joseph of Colo; Fern (Mrs. Fred Burgess) of Maxwell; and Grace (Mrs. Harry Burgess) also of Maxwell; 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and two brothers Sam and John of Collins.

The deceased lived most of his life in the Collins and Maxwell communities and leaves a host of friends who truly mourn his passing.
