AGED RESIDENT PASSES AWAY

Mrs. T. Chelsvig Died On Sunday, December 22nd After a Decline of Several Months. Funeral Held Friday.

The death of Mrs. T. J. Chelsvig occurred on Sunday, December 22, 1912, after having been declining in health for some time, although she had been able to be up part of the time until the day of her death. The funeral services were held from Bergen church on Friday, a large number being present. Rev. G. Smedal preached the funeral sermon after which the remains were laid in the Roland cemetery

Kathrine Chelsvig was born in Hjelmen, Stavangers Stift, Norway, April 16, 1827 and was 85 years, 9 months and 6 days old at the time of her death. In 1855, she was joined in marriage to Tjerand Chelsvig, to which union six children were born, four of whom are living. They are Nils Chelsvig, of Texas; Joe T. Chelsvig, of near this place; Mrs. Andrew Jacobson, of Kanawa and Mrs. Chris Henderson, of near this place. Together with her husband she came to this country in 1864 and later on settled on a farm northeast of town, where she lived at the time of her death. She was a woman of quiet manners and was highly respected by those who know her. She lived a Christian life, and passed away peacefully and content in he belief that she would inherit the kingdom of God.

The sorrowing husband and children together with other relatives are extended sympathy of friends in the hour of their bereavement.
