YOUNG BRIDE PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Sena Woster-Martens Passes Away Last Saturday Morning After Two Weeks Sickness. Was Bride Less Than Year Ago. Funeral Held Tuesday.

Profound sorrow was expressed last Saturday morning when the church bells tolled, thus announcing the death of Mrs. Elmer Martens. While it was known that she had been critically ill for several days, the report had spread the previous day that she was somewhat better, so the news of her death came as a shock to the many friends of the family. Mrs. Martens had been poorly for some time, but was able to be up until two weeks ago, when her sickness was diagnosed as pleurisy. This later developed into typhoid fever together with hemorrhages, the latter disease being the direct cause of her untimely death.

Miss Sena Woster was born five miles northeast of here April 4, 1890, and was a daughter of Knudt Woster. She attended the rural schools until she entered the Roland High school from which she graduated a few years ago. She then took up teaching and studied some at the Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. She was united in holy wedlock to Elmer Martens on March 12, 1912, so at her death had been married but eight months. Her married life was of short duration, she passing into the Great Beyond on Saturday, October 19, 1912, and was but 22 years, 6 months and 15 days old. Besides her husband, she leaves her father, K. Woster, seven sisters and one brother, they being, Mrs. R. O. Rasmussen of near this place, Mrs. Severin Langland, of Williams, Lizzie, Julia, Clarence, Agnes, Mamie and Vivian, and numerous other relatives and friends to mourn her untimely death.

The deceased was a bright and loving young lady, admired by all who knew er, and her death will for a time cast a gloom over her friends. The writer knew her as a pupil, while he was teaching, and can state that she was an apt and willing pupil, and can readily sympathize with her family in the great loss that they have sustained in her death.

It will be consolation to her sorrowing ones to know that she was content to die and that her prayers were for her loved ones.

The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon from Bergen church, Rev. G. Smedal preaching the funeral sermon. The church was filled to overflowing with friends from far and near, who wished to pay their last respect to the departed, and the floral were many and very beautiful. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery. The Record extgends to the bereaved ones it's sincere sympathy in the hour of their deep affliction.
