OLSON FUNERAL HELD FRIDAY
Ole O. Olson, Who Died At Clarinda Hospital, Was Laid to Rest In Roland Cemetery Last Friday, Rev. Sandven Preaching Funeral Sermon
Ole O. Olson (Overhus) was born in Benton county in 1862 and died at the state hospital for the Insane at Clarinda on Tuesday, July 23, 1912, being fifty years at the time of his death. At the age of six years he moved to Howard township with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John Olson, and lived here until some years ago, when he went to North Dakota and lived there until about five years ago, when his mind became unbalanced. He was then taken back to Iowa and placed in the care of the State Hospital for the insane at Clarinda. It was hoped that under the care given there that he could have been cured, but such was not the case. For the past few months he has been suffering from dropsy and heart trouble, and his relatives had been notified that he could not possibly live very long. On the day of his death he had been out around the building, when shortly afterwards he was found dead, heart failure having taken away his life.
He leaves one sister, Mrs. Sam Swanson, of Marshalltown and two brothers, Nels Olson of this place, and George J. Olson, of Marshalltown and other relatives and friends to mourn his death.
The remains were shipped to Story City and the funeral took place from Bergen church at this place last Friday, Rev. J. N. Sandven preaching the funeral sermon in the absence of the pastor, Rev. G. Smedal. The remains were laid to rest in the Roland Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Swanson and daughter of Marshalltown, were here in attendance at the funeral. The sorrowing relatives are extended the sympathy of their friends in their bereavement.
