Funeral Services Held Wednesday For Ray E. Beal

Maxwell, Feb. 13--Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Church of Christ for Ray E. Beal, with the pastor, the Rev. John Sparks, officiating. Rev. J. D. Brower offered prayer.

Mrs. Ray Goodsen, soloist, sang "Abide With Me," "Ivory Palaces" and "There Will Be No Tears in Paradise," with Mrs. Ned Pearson accompanist on the organ. Pall bearers were Dave Brooks, Harry Sorenson, Ralph Sorenson, Archie Witmer, Harry Cairns and Ross Link.

Floral tributes of love and esteem were many and most beautifully arranged at the church and cemetery by Mrs. J. B. Scott and Mrs. E. L. Wood. Burial was made in the family lot in the Brethren cemetery south of Maxwell.

Rev. Sparks read the following brief life sketch.

Ray Earl Beal, son of Urias and Lydia Beal was born November 7, near Maxwell, and passed away at Mary Greeley hospital at Ames, February 8, 1948, of a heart ailment, at the age of 59 years, two months and 12 days.

Ray was united in marriage to Eva Bloomfield, August 12, 1914, and spent almost his entire life near Maxwell, except for nine years, which was spent in Milford township. He united with the Church of the Brethren in early life and kept his faith until passing. He was a devoted husband and father and greatly appreciated and the kindness of neighbors and friends who mourn his loss. He was very patient during his illness.

He is survived by a faithful wife, Eva, one daughter, Pauline, of Ames, two sons, Ray, Jr., and Harvey, of Maxwell, four grandchildren, Betty Mattingly, of Ames, Ronald, Richard and Fred Beal of Maxwell, two sisters, Mrs. Bert Link of Nevada, Mrs. R. Z. Brown of Maxwell and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Faye, his parents, one sister, Mrs. Carrit Hostettler and one brother, Roy.
