Last Rites Held Sunday For Mrs. Sarah Huntrods

Collins, Feb. 9--Funeral services for the late Mrs. Sarah Huntrods aged Collins resident who passed away Friday evening, Jan. 30, at Mary Greeley hospital, Ames, were held at the local United Brethren Church, on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 and were in charge of her pastor the Rev. Paul H. Varce.

Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Arley Wolf, Mrs. Jesse Torry, Bradford Stevens and Milton Hale. The songs used had been previously selected by the deceased and were "God's Tomorrow" used as a solo by Milton Hale; "There Will Be No Disappointments in Heaven", and "Home Sweet Home" by the quartet. Mrs. Fred Mead was the accompanist and used as piano solos "We'll Never Say Goodbye" and "Does Jesus Care."

The floral offerings were arranged at the church and grave by Mrs. Fred Anderson, Mrs. Ray Evans and Mrs. Claude Shickell.

Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery by the side of her husband who died many years ago. The pallbearers were Meyer Brekke, George Jacobson, Claude Shickells, Arley Wolf, Ed Stratton and S. T. Hyatt.

The following obituary was read at the services: Sarah Ann was the youngest child in the family of eight children of Evelyn and Henry Henson. She was born in Tennessee, Nov. 12, 1863 and departed this life Jan. 30, 1948 aged 84 years, 2 months and 19 days.

Her parents died when she was quite small and she was reared in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hembrough. Early in life she accepted Christ and decided to follow the path of her Master, and was a faithful church member until her death.

On Aug. 30, 1883 she was united in marriage to William V. Huntrods near Jacksonville, Ill. To this union six children were born: Elizabeth, Jessie, Thomas, Myra, John and Simpson. Elizabeth and Jessie along with her husband preceded her in death.

She and her husband with two small children, moved to Collins sixty years ago, where she continued to make her home the greater part of her life.

She was united with the Methodist Protestant church a number of years ago and later transferred her membership to the Evangelical United Brethren church where she was a faithful worker until ill health forced her to relinquish her duties.

She leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, three sons, 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren as well as many, many friends.

Among the out of town relatives and friends attending the services Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Olson and daughters of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Ellen Huntrods, Mrs. Glen Boston and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Baumgardner of McCallsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Henson and daughter of Maxwell; Mr. and Mrs. Milo Lauf-er of Indianola, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon White of State Center, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Henson of Grainger.
