Funeral Services Held Saturday For A. A. White

Colo, May 26--The Methodist church in Colo was filled to over capacity Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with relatives and friends paying their last tribute to A. A. White, prominent citizen and life-time resident of Colo who passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 19, at the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown where he had been a patient for five weeks.

The very high regard in which the deceased was held was made very evident by the unusually large number of floral offering which banked the front of the church. Those who cared for and arranged the flowers were Frances O'Donnel, Mildred Brouhard, Pauline Koch and Margaret Donaldson.

Paul Henry sang "Beyond the Sunset" and with Mark Wilson sang "In the Sweet Dye and Bye." They were accompanied by Mrs. Mark Wilson at the piano who also played appropriate selections at the beginning and close of service.

Casket bearers were grandsons of the deceased, Glenn Olson, Max Lounsberry, Robert Bamford, Richard Lounsberry, Ray Lounsberry and Clare Lounsberry. Committal was in the Colo Cemetery by the said of his wife who passed away last spring.

Rev. J. W. Williams of Gladbrook was in charge of the service being assisted by Rev. Alfred Schneck. Rev. Williams has been a close friend of the family for many years.

Following is the obituary read during the service.

Arah Albert White, son of Samuel and Mary White, was born on a farm southwest of Colo, March 15, 1868. He passed away in the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown, May 19 at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 4 days after an illness of six weeks.

He grew to manhood on the old White homestead and attended Hickory Grove school. He engaged in the trucking and ice business in Colo for many years and served several terms as mayor and town councilman. He was united in marriage to Mary Marilla Brodie, March 25, 1888. They settled on a farm southwest of Colo where they continued to live until they moved to Colo 31 years ago.

To this union were born two sons, Ross of Colo and Glenn of Rock Island, Ill., four daughters, Mrs. Pauline Olson, Mrs. Anna Lounsberry, Mrs. Isabelle Bamford of Colo and Mrs. Elizabeth Banks of Nevada. Also surviving are two brothers, Turl and Homer of Colo, 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

He was united with the Church of God when a young man and remained faithful through the years. March 25, 1946, they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.

He was preceded in death by his wife who died 14 months ago, his father, mother, three brothers and three sisters. He was a kind and devoted husband and father and was happiest when he had his family and friends around him. His cheery smile and friendly greetings will be missed by his host of friends both young and old.

Carr, Rose Pardue, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Lounsberry, Mrs. Carl Christy, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Tichenor, Ray Boyd, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Hubbard, Claude Moran of Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Artherholt, Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lounsberry, Mr. and Mrs. Clare Lounsberry, Callas Center, Mr. and Mrs. Tennis Larson, Slater, Mrs. Rose Brodie, Mrs. Cleo Bond, Ames.
