Carl Dunahoo Services in Iowa Center
Funeral services for Carl Dunahoo, 47, who died Wednesday in Des Moines, the first of family of thirteen children to pass away were held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Iowa Center church with Rev. C. E. Lookingbill officiating.
The church was filled to capacity with sorrowing relatives and friends. The many beautiful floral offerings filled the entire front of the church. Miss Kathryn White and Mrs. R. B. Seversike, nieces of the deceased, were in charge of the flowers.
Orval Woodman and daughter Esther sang "Just Inside the Eastern Gate," "My Home Sweet Home" and "We'll Say Good Night Here and Good Morning Up There." Mrs. Basil Caple was at the organ.
The pall bearers were Willard Dunahoo, Leonard Dunahoo, Donald Dunahoo, Ralph Dunahoo, Leo Dunahoo and Lloyd Dunahoo. Burial was in the Iowa Center cemetery.
Obituary
Carl Dunahoo, son of Floyd and Susie Dunahoo, was born on a farm in Story county on November 14, 1900. He was the third child to bless their home.
Carl had been in failing health for some time and was taken to the hospital nearly three weeks ago, suffering from a kidney ailment. All that loving hands could do was done for him, but he passed peacefully away early Wednesday morning at 4:12 o'clock at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines at the age of 47 years, seven months and nine days.
Carl's passing was the first of a family of 13 children and he was preceded in death by his mother and twin sons.
He leaves to mourn his passing three daughters, one son, one grandson, his father, eight brothers, four sisters, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of neighbors and friends.
The children are Mrs. Evelyn Clemons, Susie, Linda and Glen Dunahoo, all of Des Moines.
The brothers are Leo, Dale and Guy of Des Moines, Leonard of Cedar Falls, Willard and Lloyd of Zearing, Donald of Nevada and Ralph of Maxwell.
The sisters are Mrs. Beulah White, Mrs. Fern Hulshizer, Mrs. Jessie Waler and Mrs. Alma Harrison, all of Nevada.
Carl was a loving father, son and brother and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
