Many Attend Services For Roy Ringgenberg

Funeral services for LeRoy Ringgenberg were held Saturday afternoon at the McCallsburg Presbyterian church with Rev. James D. Ransom officiating. It was one of the largest attended funerals ever held in the church, which was filled with relatives and friends who came to pay their last respects to one they loved and esteemed.

The music was furnished by Mrs. Myron Jorstad and Miss Cahterine Craig, who sang, "Be Still My Soul," and Mrs. B. A. Imsland and Mrs. G. E. DuBois sang, "Beyond the Sunset." Miss Cleo Tett furnished the accompaniment at the piano. Henry Mehlow and A. J. Cook served as ushers.

The many and beautiful floral offerings and the several gifts to missions and other worthy causes were mute expressions of esteem held for the deceased. Among the memorials was a $17 contribution in his memory to the Story County Polio fund.

The flowers were arranged and cared for by Mrs. C. E. Baumgardner, Mrs. Earl Hanson, Mrs. Allis Wicks, Mrs. George Austad and Mrs. LuVern Quam of Des Moines.

Burial was in the McCallsburg cemetery.

Obituary

LeRoy Ringgenberg, son of Paul and Laura Zachary Ringgenberg, was born in Polk county on September 24, 1897, and lived nearly all of his early life in Polk county with the exception of a short time spent in South Dakota.

On July 20, 1919, he was married to Ursul Higgenbothem at Mystic, Iowa, and to this union was born a daughter, Velma Jean. After living in Polk county for eight years, the Ringgenbergs moved to a farm near McCallsburg community since, with the exception of five years spent in Buckeye, Arizona.

He was a member of the Swedish Methodist church in Sheldahl.

Although not feeling his best for some time he felt able to follow his doctor's suggestions that he get away for a rest and with Mrs. Ringgenberg, they left recently on a trip, visiting the places he enjoyed. He became ill in the night in the cabin in which they were staying near a lake at Grand Rapids, Minn., and died from a heart attack shortly after a doctor reached him.

Survivors

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Nus of Rocky Ford, Colo.; two grandsons; his mother, Mrs. Laura Ringgenberg of Madrid; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends. His passing also brings a sense of loss and grief to the limitless number of friends he made through his friendliness and pleasant ways.

C. Nus of Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hill of Clarion; Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Wilson of Buckeye, Ariz.; Mr. and Mrs. John W. Higgenbothem of Williams, Ariz.; Mr. and Mrs. K. B. Higgenbothem of Topeka, Kans.; Mrs. Loah Sheetz of Excelsior Springs, Mo; Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Higgenbothem of Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Higgenbothem of Creston; Irene H. Browns of Mystic; Leonard Hefner of Davenport; Mrs. Arthur Gabrielson of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Avis Knapps of Mason City; J. C. Rousseau of Lovilla; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wilson of Moravia; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ringgenberg of Ventura; Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Ringgenberg of Ames, and many uncles, aunts and cousins, including those from Newton, Sheldahl, Ogden, Slater and other towns.
