Hold Final Rites For Charles H. Kimberley

The Charles H. Kimberley home, south of Collins, was filled capacity Sunday afternoon with friends and relatives paying last respects to Charles H. Kimberley, who passed away Thursday morning at the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown.

The Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of Nevada, long-time friend of the deceased, has charge of the services. The pall bearers, nephews of the deceased, were I. M. Kimberley, John I. Kimberley, Harold S. Kimberley, Fred H. Kimberley, J. W. Kimberley and Charles Swalwell.

Burial was in the Peoria cemetery beside the wife, who passed away 22 years ago.

Obituary

Charles Henry Kimberley, son of Isaiah and Mary Ann Kimberley, was born at the old Kimberley farm Nov. 30, 1867, and died April 21 at the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown at the age of 81 years, four months and 21 days.

He was one of 15 children and spent an active boyhood on his father's farm. His entire life was spent on the same place and he took deep pleasure in improving and caring for the farm.

On April 17, 1910, Mr. Kimberley was united in marriage to Daisy Pearl Nowning, who preceded him in death in February 1927.

He took keen interest in community affairs and was active in promoting the worthwhile things of live. He enjoyed traveling and for the past 10 years spent the winters in Florida and Arizona, having returned only recently from Tucson. One of Mr. Kimberley's qualities was the ability to make friends wherever he went, all of whom learn of his passing with regret.

Surviving

Surviving are four children, Daisy Mary Bullard of Maxwell, George and Charles of Collins and William of Colfax. Besides the children and five grandchildren Patricia and Beverley Kimberley, Charles and Margaret Bullard and Marsha Kimberley, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ruth Pearson of Maxwell; also many nieces and nephews and friends, who felt privileged to call him "Uncle Charley."
