Hold Final Rites For Mary Jane Hatfield

Funeral services were held for Mary Jane Hatfield, 80, Friday, Feb. 18, in the Cambridge Methodist church of which she was a member, with the Rev. Mark Wetteland in charge. Interment was in the Cambridge cemetery.

Mrs. Arnold Nernes sang "The Old Rugged Cross," "Empty Mansions" and "A Day Without a Cloud," accompanied by Mrs. John Dyer at the piano.

Casket bearers were Harry Cairns, Galen Enfield, Keith Munson, Neal O'Mara, Harold Bullard and Robert Lee.

Obituary

Mary Jane Hatfield, daughter of Sarah and John Reynard was born Jan. 22, 1869, in Polk county and passed away Feb. 15, 1949, at the Woodland Nursing home in Des Moines, having reached the age of 80 years, three weeks and three days. She had made her home with her son, Forrest, and family in Cambridge for many years.

In 1887 she was united in marriage to James Floyd Maxwell, who passed away in 1896. To this union four children were born, Floyd, deceased, Mrs. Edith Lee of Letcher, S. Dak., Mrs. Ethel Carpenter of Des Moines and Mrs. Elizabeth Hawkins of Livermore, Iowa.

She was later married to James Hatfield, now deceased. This union was blessed with three children, Minnie, who passed away in 1918, James Lawrence, who died in 1906, and Forrest of Cambridge. She also leaves 24 grandchildren and several great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
