Last Rites For Mrs. Knut Stensland Held on Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Knut Stensland, 1133 Ninth street, whose death occurred in the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Friday, July 22, were held Monday afternoon, with prayer service at the home at 1:30 p.m. and at Salem Lutheran church in Roland at 2:30 with Rev. E. P. Windman of Memorial Lutheran church of Nevada officiating with Rev. H. N. Bakka of McCallsburg, assisting.

At the prayer service at the Stensland home Virginia Brouhard sang, "What a Friend I Have in Jesus", and the obituary was read followed by a prayer.

At the Salem church Otis Boyd sang "Sunrise Tomorrow" and "Abide With Me", the congregation singing "Nearer My God to Thee" at the opening of the service. Mrs. Alfred Jacobson was at the organ.

Mrs. Adolph Eggland and Mrs. Arthur Munson looked after the flowers which were many and beautiful. In addition where were many memorial offerings in memory of the deceased. The casket bearers were Ernest Stensland of Roland, Harold Stensland of Cambridge, Howard Helgevold of Fort Dodge, Orville Hausken of Story City, Byron Hausken of Los Angeles, Calif., and Henry Larson of Nevada, all nephews of either Mr. or Mrs. Stensland.

Burial was in the Roland cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Jennie Stensland passed away at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Friday, July 22 at 6 p.m. at the age of 60 years, 7 months and 25 days.

She was born at Roland, Nov. 29, 1888, and had lived all her life near Roland, Ames and Nevada, except for seven years in Minnesota.

Daughter of the late Sara and Hans Hausken of Roland, she was married Knut Stensland of Huxley, December 29, 1910. To this union were born five daughters, Hazel, Mrs. Homer Beach of Roland; Herma, Mrs. Ernest Beach of St. Anthony; Fern, Mrs. Nolan Ostrem of Zearing and Joyce, Mrs. Eddie Smith of Ames, all of whom survive her.

She also leaves nine grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. J. P. Larson, Mrs. Fred W. Larson and Mrs. Mary Melohn of Nevada and one brother, Ole Hausken of Marshalltown. There are also a number of nephews and nieces, one of whom is Byron Hausken, who lived their home approximately four years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

Life Long Lutheran

Jennie Stensland was a life long member of Salem Lutheran church at Roland. Her main interest in life was to help her family and friends and work for her church. She was a member of the Ladies Aid in Roland until she moved to Ames where she was a faithful worker in the Ames church and later in Memorial Lutheran church when she moved to Nevada. At the time of her death she was member of the Missionary society and the Service groups in Nevada of Circle No. 7 in Roland.

She was a member of the Women's Relief Corps in Nevada.

A kind and loving wife and mother, she will be greatly missed by her family and a very large circle of friends and relatives.
