Hold Final Services For Cornelius Nelson
Final rites were held at the East Bergen church for Cornelius Nelson, who passed away Monday the Rev. Allen Nelson officiating. Preceding those at the church short services were held at the home.
Otto Hansen sang two songs at the church. The pallbearers were Kenneth and Otto Holm of Kenyon, Minn.; Archie Osborn of Ames, Rex Twedt, Jesse and Lester Solyst of McCallsburg.
Burial was in the East Bergen cemetery.
Obituary
Cornelius Nelson, son of Gunder and Malinda Nelson, was born April 4, 1886, was baptized by Rev. Jacobson, May 23, 1886, and confirmed by Rev. G. Smedal, Oct. 7, 1900.
He attended Lutheran Normal college at Sioux Falls, S. D., and later taught school for a number of years.
For the last 30 years he had been engaged in farming, four miles northwest of McCallsburg, where he lived at the time of his death.
He died suddenly Monday afternoon, Aug. 28, in Story City of a heart attack at the age of 63 years, four months and 18 days.
Survivors
He is survived by his mother, Malinda Nelson; four sisters, Malinda Solyst and Bertha Nelson of McCallsburg, Lizzie Norem of Zearing and Edith Olson of Radcliffe, besides other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends from a distance to attend the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Dan Twedt of Prairie Farm, Wis.; Dan and Bert Veland of Blue Earth, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Whattoff, Mr and Mrs. Don Whattoff, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Osborn, Judith and Joan Iverson, all of Ames; Mrs. Helen Nelson, John Nelson, Paul Flagstad, Peter Skogerboe, Mr. and Mrs. Andrey Vigness, Josie Torgeson, Stella Larson, Clarence, John and Belle Twedt and Osmund Ose of Story City and many others.
