Hold Final Rites For Floyd Bell

Final services for Floyd Bell were held Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 30, at the Morgan Funeral home in Newton, with the Rev. G. H. Hulsebus of Maxwell officiating.

The following brief life sketch was read during the services:

Floyd James Bell, son of William Schyler and Elizabeth Bell, was born July 28, 1891, in Polk county, near Maxwell and departed this life Aug. 28, 1949, at the Skiff Memorial hospital in Newton at the age of 58 years and one month.

He was united in marriage to Hazel Elliott in 1920, who preceded him in death in 1944.

On April 5, 1947, he was united in marriage to Eva Hick*, who survives along with three sisters, Mrs. Grace Wescott, Mrs. Lulu Parr of Des Moines and Mrs. Mary Jacobson of Maxwell; three step grandchildren, plus many relatives and a host of friends.

Preceding him in death, besides his parents, were one brother and on sister.

He served in World War I, most of the time spent overseas.

He spent the rest of his life in and around Newton and worked at the Maytag factory.

Burial was in the Collins cemetery.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Eva Hick was Eva May Warrell, daughter of Henry Harrison Warrell and Florence Holmes, who was first married to Carl F. Hick.
