Funeral Services For Halvor H. Tesdell
Special to the Journal.
Slater, May 10--Funeral services for Halvor H. Tesdell were held Tuesday afternoon, at one-thirty o'clock at the home and at two o'clock at the Houges Free church. The services were in charge of Rev. J. Loland, assisted by Rev. E. Rorem.
The beautiful floral offerings were in charge of Mrs. O. M. Brown and Mrs. John Gunderson. Mrs. Loland sang the Norwegian song "Den Store Hvide Flok." A male quartette composed of Andrew Maland, Dewey Fausch, Homer Lewis and Donald Peterson sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden."
The pall bearers were Oliver Erickson, Nels Sydness, G. T. Eide, Joe Houge, Severt Houge and Geo. Houge.
Burial was made in the cemetery several miles north of Slater.
Havor H. Tesdell was born in Etne, Norway, December 24, 1860 and died at his home in Slater Saturday, May 4 at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 9 days.
His first wife died in 1890 and their home was in Sheldahl. Some years later he moved to Slater where his marriage to Mrs. Bertha Roe took place in 1904. He is survived by his wife and five step-children. They are: Oscar, Sanford and Clarence Roe and Mrs. H. P. Williams, all of Gary Indiana and Mrs. Lester Nelson of Slater.
