Hold Final Rites For O. M. Brown
Funeral services for O. M. Brown were held on Monday afternoon. The prayer service at the home in Slater was held at 1:30, followed by services at the Bethlehem Lutheran church at 2 o'clock.
The services were in charge of Rev. P. E. Onstad.
The beautiful floral offerings were arranged by Miss Marie Folgero and Mrs. Glenn Fausch. A large number of gift to the missions and Children's Home at Ames were given in his memory by relative and friends.
Rev. Onstad sang two solos, "I'm But a Stranger Here" and "I Know a Sleep in Jesus Name". A duet "We'll Say Good Night Here, But Good Morning Up There", was sung by Mrs. Roland Swanson of Madrid and Mrs. Wayne Severson.
The pall bearers were Kermit Granseth of Ames, Thomas Lee of Cambridge, Oliver Richardson of Kelley, Elmer Richardson, Truman Brown and Melvin Brown.
Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.
Obituary
Ossey M. Brown was born Aug. 17, 1883, on a farm, northwest of Slater, and died at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines on Dec. 22, 1949, at the age of 66 years, four months and 15 days. His parents were the late Martin and Enger Brown.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Lincoln church and later transferred his membership to the Bethlehem congregation.
He attended Jewell college. His marriage to Miss Clara Weeks took place March 19, 1913, and they made their home in Slater. He was employed by the Farmers' Cooperative Creamery association.
He became ill several months ago from a heart ailment and was taken to the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames. He returned home within a week, put had a heart attack and was taken to the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, where he passed away several days later.
Survivors
He is survived by his wife; two sisters, Mrs. Eloise Neslund of Des Moines and Miss Marie Brown of Slater, one brother, Ed Brown of Ames, and a large number of relatives and friends.
