Services Held Tuesday For Aldus Dobson, 72
Funeral services for Aldus Dobson, 72, were held Tuesday afternoon Sept. 19 at 1:30 from the Iowa Center church with th Rev. Elmer S. Blomquist of Maxwell officiating.
Mrs. Lloyd Helland and Mrs. J. Cleverly of Collins sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Lord is My Shepherd" with Mrs. C. R. Stone accompanying on the piano. The floral tributes were many and beautiful.
Burial was in the Dobson cemetery north of Le Grand. Pall bearers were John I. Kimberley, L. D. Holland, M. Vincent, Carl Howell, Ronald Coughenour and Carl Hill.
Obituary
Aldus M. Dobson, son of Barbara and Wilburn Dobson was born near Garwin on April 10, 1878 and died at his home in Iowa Center on Sept. 17 at the age of 72 years.
He grew to manhood in the Garwin neighborhood, and married Miss Ethel Cope on May, 1899. They lived in Tama county for many years, and in 1925 moved to Story county where they lived near Nevada and Ames and finally moved to the Collins community. In 1944 they bought their present home in Iowa Center.
Mr. Dobson leaves to mourn his passing his wife, two sons, Norman of Nevada, and Laurence of Maxwell; one daughter, Mrs. Marian Davis of New Orleans; one granddaughter, Marilyn, one brother, Ward of Gladbrook, two sisters, Mrs. Frank Morrison of La Crosse, Wis., and Mrs. Frankie Wegan of Union, his stepmother, Mrs. Vera Dobson of Iowa Center, as well as four half brothers and one step-sister.
His parents, one sister, and two small daughters preceded him in death.
Mr. Dobson was a member of the Collins Methodist church, the Masonic lodge and the Collins Chapter of the Eastern Star.
