THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story Co., Iowa April 17, 1958, page 1. "OBITUARY- Funeral services for LeRoy Ernest Bell was held in the First Presbyterian Church of Maxwell, Monday, April 14, with interment in the Peoria Cemetery. Rev. Stanley Farmer officiating. The lovely floral offerings were arranged and cared for by Anna Holland and Grace Douglas. Mrs. Alice Gooden accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Ina Larsen sang, "Shadows" and "Beyond the Sunset." Casket bearers were his nephews namely, Howard, Melvin and Robert Bell, Marvin Backus and Dean and Ronald Whitney. LeRoy Ernest Bell, son of John R. Bell and Mary Bell, was born near Maxwell on March 23, 1885. He passed away, quite suddenly, at his home east of Maxwell, on April 11, 1958, at the age of 73 years. Roy, as he was known to his friends, was one of nine children, having two brothers and six sisters, all of whom have preceded him in death except one brother, Burt Bell of Des Moines, and one sister, Mrs. Walter Backus of Altoona. On October 2, 1907, Jenny Mae Whitney and LeRoy Ernest Bell were joined in the holy bond of matrimony and to this marriage were born three sons: Howard, Edwin and Ralph. Of his immediate family all have preceded Roy in death, except his youngest son Ralph, who lives in Des Moines. Roy and Jenny, early in their marriage joined the Peoria Methodist Church, and retained their membership there, although in later years Roy and his family attended the Presbyterian Church here in Maxwell and became quite active in all its functions. LeRoy Ernest Bell leaves to morn his passing not only a brother, sister and a son, but also two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Pearl Bell wife of Edwin, and Mrs. Betty Bell, wife of Ralph, a grandson, Richard W. Bell of Waterloo, three great-grandchildren, a host of other relatives and an entire neighborhood of friends, for all who knew Roy knew him as a neighbor and a friend."

“LEROY BELL DIED AT FARM HOME – LeRoy Bell, 73, Maxwell, died Friday at the farm home where he had lived for some 45 years. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Presbyterian Church with burial in the Peoria Cemetery soutn of Maxwell. He is survived by a son, Ralph, of Des Moins; a brother, a sister and a grandchild.”
