EMMA MAY WATKINS

COLO: -- Funeral services for Emma Watkins were held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Colo Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Hasel officiating.

Mrs. Mildred Brinkman, organist accompanied Mrs. Lara Hostetler and Mrs. Wanda arlson who sang two duets "Sunrise Tomorrow" and "Ivory Palaces."

Pall bearers were Donald Grager, Jack Stone, Ray Hostetler, Clayton Robinson, Harold Handsaker and Donald White. Burial was in the Colo Cemetery.

Life Sketch

Emma May Watkins was born in Marshall County, Iowa near Illinois Grove east of Zearing, November 23, 1868, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Madison Spake, early settlers of the county. She passed away July 9, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Delbert Dickinson in Colo, at the age of 88 years. She was married to Charles E. Watkins, January 30, 1886.

She was preceded in death by her husband in August, 1933. One child, Lenna, was born to this union.

They lived most of their life in Story County and a great many years were spent in and around Colo. She was a member of the Colo Methodist Church in her early married life but after moving to Collins, transferred her membership to that place. She was a faithful member of the WSCS and the "Friendly Neighbors Club." She will be remembered for her cheerfulness and interest in her neighbors, friends and relatives.

Survivors are the one daughter, Mrs. Delbert Dickinson of Colo, one sister, Mrs. Della Glancy, Moberly, Mo. and two grandchildren, John Dickinson and Ruth Robinson, both of Colo and seven great grandchildren.
