Services in Maxwell For Mrs. M. Hawkins
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon Sept. 15 from the Cooper-Moore Funeral Home in Maxwell for Mrs. Malinda Hawkins, wife of the late Fred Hawkins. The Rev. Elmer S. Blomquist of the Maxwell Methodist church was in charge.
Mrs. Alice Gooden, soloist sang "Abide With Me" and "Beyond the Sunset", with Miss Darlene Moore accompanying on the organ.
The floral tributes were beautiful and profuse. Casket bearers were the grandsons, Audrey Everly, Vernon Miller, Robert Kenney, and Guy, Clare and Marlo Mendenhall.
Burial was in the family lot in the Brethren cemetery south of Maxwell.
Obituary
Mary Malinda Hawkins, the daughter of Emanuel and Charlotte Mowen, was born in Illinois on June 13, 1861, and departed this life on September 12, 1950 at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 29 days.
She was married to Ferdinand Hawkins in September 9, 1880. To this union seven children were born Mrs. Elsie Mendenhall of Altoona, Oliver of Collins, Mrs. Blanche Miller of Des Moines, Mrs. Esther Everly of Bondurant, and Archible of Maxwell.
Preceding her in death were her husband and two sons, Walter and Victor Emanuel.
She is also survived by one brother, George Mowen of Maxwell, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
She had spent the past ten years living with her son Oliver. She was kind and loving mother always willing to help others in need.
