Rites in Story City For Mrs. Anna Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Johnson were held Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 6, from the Larson-Peterson Funeral home in Story City and from Immanuel Lutheran church.

The Rev. A. O. Skibsrud officiated at the last rites. He also sang two favorite hymns of the deceased, "Abide With Me" and "Den Store Hvide Flok", accompanied at the organ by Miss Louise Olson.

Interment was in South St. Petri cemetery. Kenneth Johnson, Bernie Jacobson, Herbert Chenowith, Curnie Larson, Orville Anderson and Hilmer Anderson served at pall bearers.

Obituary

The following obituary was read at the services:

"Karen Anna Anderson was born in Romsdalen, Norway, Oct. 30, 1875. Her parents were Andrew and Olett Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith in the Lutheran congregation of her home community.

As a young woman she immigrated to the United States in the year 1897, coming to the Schaller, Iowa community first.

On Jan. 1, 1917, she became the bride of John S. Johnson in Des Moines, Iowa, after which she came to her home in Story city where she spent the remainder of her life.

In the course of her life she endeared herself to her family and a host of friends as she endeavored to do her part as a good neighbor, citizen and member of her Christian congregation. She was a member of Immanuel congregation during the years she made her home in Story City.

Prior to her death Mrs. Johnson was ill for about one year and a half. She was preceded in death by her husband in November of 1935."

Surviving

She is survived by one sister still living in Norway, Mrs. Anna Volstad, also by three step-children, Mrs. Charley Canady of Story City, Mrs. Stella Adams of Nashville, Tenn., and Palmer Johnson of Chicago, Ill. as well as grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Johnson passed away on Monday, Sept. 4, at her home in Story City.
