CYRUS BRITSON DIED MONDAY

Young Boy Passes Away After Only Few Days Sickness From Diabetes At Parents Home in West Part of Town

This community was shocked on Monday to learn that Cyrus Britson the younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Britson had passed away after being confined to his bed less than four days. The boy, while not feeling well for some time, had been at school until about two weeks ago but did not complain of being very sick, but on Friday morning, Dr. Rice was called and after an examination, diagnosed the case as diabetes, but the case had gone so far that nothing could be done to save the boy's life. He passed away quietly Monday afternoon, having previously stated to his loved ones that he was prepared to enter the Great Beyond.

Cyrus Malvin Britson was born on the old Britson homestead just east of town, September 22, 1897 and commenced to attend school at Roland as soon as old enough. Three years ago he moved with his parents to Highmore, S. D., but returned with them a year ago. He resumed his work in the schools until two weeks ago, and was also one of the class of confirmants in Bergen church and would have been confirmed with his classmates this spring. On Monday noon, the confirmation class paid him their last goodby. Besides his parents, he leaves a sister, Mrs. Sam Bakka of this place, a brother, Ed J. Britson of Northwood, and numerous other relatives to mourn his untimely death. The funeral was held from Bergen church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. G. Smedal preaching the funeral sermon, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Roland cemetery. The church was filled with friends of the family and the casket was covered with beautiful floral offerings. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the sorrowing family in the hour of their deep affliction.
