Final Rites Wednesday For Mrs. Myrna Sokol

Funeral services for Mrs. Myrna Sokol, 59, prominent Collins woman, who passed away suddenly at her home in Collins Sunday evening, May 28, were held from the Collins Methodist church on Wednesday afternoon May 31 in charge of the Rev. Louis Joslin, pastor.

Music was a vocal solo, "The Prayer Perfect," by Vance Stead of Ames, with Mrs. C. R. Stone, pianist.

Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Ora Hanson and Mrs. J. R. Armstrong.

Pallbearers were Charles Fish, Tony Bartik, Harold McCord, James McCord, Wallace Inman and Harold Kimberley. Interment was in Collins Evergreen cemetery.

Obituary

The following obituary was read by the minister:

"Myrna Dean Fish, the daughter of Charles L. and Maggie E. Fish, was born in Collins, Iowa on August 17, 1890 and departed this life at her home in Collins on Sunday, May 28, 1950.

On January 30, 1913 she was united in marriage at Collins to Harry R. Sokol. To this union were born three children all of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Lewis Van Nostrand, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dr. Charles R. Sokol, State Center, Iowa, and George O. Sokol, Nevada, Iowa. Mr. Sokol passed away in 1948.

Mrs. Sokol attended and graduated from the Collins public school was an alumnus of State Teachers college, Cedar Falls, Ia., and afterwards taught in the Collins school.

In early girlhood Mrs. Sokol united with the Collins Methodist church and continued to be a faithful member until her death. She was also an active member of Collins Chapter No. 134, Order of the Eastern Star, Collins, also the El Deen club, and the Womans society of the Methodist church.

She sustained throughout her lifetime an eager love of people, as attested by an unusually large circle of friends.

Survivors

There remains to mourn her passing, besides the daughter and sons mentioned above, two brothers, G. C. and C. E. Fish, also of Collins, five grandchildren, Susan and Lisa Van Nostrand, and Steven, Barbara and Jane Sokol, also two maternal aunts, Mrs. Addie Douglas and Mrs. Will Tipton, a number of other relatives and many friends.

Hanson, Des Moines; Mrs. Addie Douglass, Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Douglass, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Richardson, Maxwell; Margaret Mead, Virginia Mead, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Dodd, Collins.

Friends were present from Nevada, Ames, Des Moines, Charles City, Nora Springs, Cedar Falls, Kellogg, State Center, Maxwell, Colo, Colorago Springs, Colo., Julesburg, Colo., Fernald, Yale, Cedar Rapids, Marshalltown, Sioux Rapids and Grand Junction.
