Rites in Cambridge For Ed Anderson

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, May 1, from the Nazareth Lutheran church in Cambridge for Ed Anderson, who passed away Thursday, April 28, at his home in Cambridge.

Services were in charge of the Rev. Harry Stoutland, assisted by the Rev. Peder Buland.

Mrs. Harry Cairns sang two hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Nearer My God to Thee", accompanied by Mrs. Elsie Webb at the piano.

The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Mathilda Hill and Mrs. Tom Berhow.

Casket bearers were John Christopherson, Clarence Lewis, John Erickson, Ole Severeid, Oliver Johnson and Weir Weeks. Interement was in the Palestine cemetery.

Obituary

Ed Anderson was born Dec. 23, 1876, in Stavanger, Norway, and passed away in his home in Cambridge, Iowa, on April 20, 1950, having reached the age of 73 years, three months and 28 days.

He was the son of Berdenes and Inger Anderson and had three sisters and six brothers, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Anderson immigrated to Leland, Ill., at the age of 21 and a year later accompanied the Henry Nelson family to Cambridge. He made his home with the Nelson family for ten years.

On Feb. 27, 1908 he was united in marriage to Sylvia Larson. They established their home on the Illingsworth farm south of Cambridge, where they resided until 1914 when they moved to the Jonas Larson homestead, which they acquired the preceding year. He was engaged in farming until 1942 when he retired and moved to Cambridge.

While in Norway he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Since coming to Cambridge he had attended the Nazareth Lutheran church, of which he was a member.

Survivors

Surviving are his wife, Sylvia, one daughter, Mrs. Edna Terrell of Whittier, Calif, four sons Byron and Irvin of Cambridge, Maurice of Huxley and Roy of Newton and 16 grandchildren.

Mr. Anderson was a faithful and devoted to his family and dependable in his relations with his fellow men.

Those from out-of-town attending the rites came from Whittier, Calif., Harlan, Buffalo Center, Newton, Des Moines, Radcliffe, Laurel, Nevada, Ames and Lake City.
