Hold Final Services For Hadley T. Nervig

Funeral services for Hadley T. Nervig, long-time Slater resident, were held from the Bethlehem Lutheran church in Slater on Friday afternoon, April 29, with the Rev. P. E. Onstad officiating.

Organ music was played at the opening and closing of the services. Rev. Onstad sand a solo and Mrs. Wayne Severson and Mrs. Roland Swanson sang two duets, "My Faith Looks Up to Thee" and "Under His Wings."

The many beautiful flora pieces were in charge of Mrs. Albert Lehman and Mrs. Randy Twit. A number of gifts of money were given to missions in his memory.

Casket bearers were Paul, Clark and John Nervig, grandsons of the deceased, and William Weeks, Herbert Reinertson and Alvie Torgenson. Burial was in the Bethlehem cemetery.

Obituary

Hadley G. Nervig, son of Thomas and Marie Nervig, was born on a farm, near Slater, in Polk county, Iowa, on Oct. 20, 1873.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Sheldahl, grew to manhood and spent most of his life working in the Slater vicinity.

On Oct. 6, 1904, he was united in marriage to Bertha Ersland and to this union seven children were born.

About a year and a half ago he suffered a broken hip in a fall. While he improved somewhat he did not regain his former health. on Sunday, April 24, he was taken to the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines for an emergency operation and on Tuesday morning he had slight stroke, which weakened his condition. Early Wednesday morning, April 26, he passed away, having reached the age of 76 years, six months and six days.

Survivors

Four sons and three daughters survive him. They are Morrell, Francix and Miriam Zager of Slater, Herbert of Ames, Robert of Boone, Helen Benshoof of Madrid and Kathryn Telford of Gainsville, Florida.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Helga Weeks of Slater and Mrs. A. M. Robins of Ames, and one brother J. T. Nervig of Spokane, Washington.
