THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, April 20, 1961, page 1, column 3. "PIERCE R. ALDER - Pierce R. Alder was born on Nov. 16, 1874 and passed away March 26, 1961, at the Marinette, Wisc., Hospital, having been in poor health for several years. Pierce at the age of 2 moved to the Boyd Martin farm, where he lived for over 40 years. He was united in marriage to Alma Bell of Maxwell on March 23, 1898, and to this union was born three daughters, one of whom passed away at the age of 13. He is survived by his wife, Alma, two daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Bergeson and Mrs. Ruth Johnston; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; also two nephews, Earl and Jay Alder of Maxwell. Funeral services were held at the Hansen and Orion Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 29, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles Rossiter officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery at Peshtiago, Wis."
