Hold Final Services For Mrs. Sara Monson

Funeral services for Mrs. Sara Monson, who passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Woodland Nursing home in Des Moines, were held on Tuesday, Feb. 7. A service was held at 10 a. m. at the Dahlstrom Funeral home in Des Moines with the Rev. Lokensgaard of the Central Lutheran church in Des Moines as speaker and at the Palestine church near Huxley at 2 o'clock in the afternoon with the Rev. Harry Stoutland in charge and Rev. Peder Buland speaking briefly.

Vocal music was by Mrs. E. D. Hall of Huxley and Ramona and Dorothy Erickson of Kelley.

Several gifts of money for missions and other benevolences were received in memory of Mrs. Monson.

Burial was in Palestine cemetery.

Obituary

Sara Larson Monson was born near Bergen, Norway, July 17, 1868, and died at the Woodland Nursing home in Des Moines on Saturday evening, Feb. 4, at 10:35.

With her parents, Halle and Guri Larson, and two brothers she came to this country in 1875.

She was married to Mike Orsvald in 1890 and following his death in 1908 she became a practical nurse, serving many in Des Moines and in the vicinity of Huxley.

She was married to Lewis Monson of Huxley in 1918. They lived in Huxley until his death in September of 1947, following an illness of many years.

Active Palestine Member

Mrs. Monson was an active member of the Palestine church and during the past year was honored with a Life Membership certificate in the Woman's Missionary Federation of that church.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; one brother, Oscar; a sister, Martha, who passed away in this country, and a brother and sister who died in infancy in Norway.

She is survived by two brothers, Hans H. Larson of Huxley and Lars H. Larson of Des Moines, several nieces and nephews and six step-children.
