Obituary

Mrs. Charles Tressler was born at Nellie Neal Heers, in Polk County, Iowa, on Dec. 27, 1874. When she was girl of 8 years, she moved with the H. C. W. Heers family to farm four miles west of Story City, Iowa. It was here she grew to young womanhood.

On March 2, 1892, she was united in marriage with Charles Tressler. The couple set up housekeeping on the Tressler farm, where they lived as a family for the long span of 51 years. They moved into Story City in the Fall 1943. On last October 16, her husband was taken by death. Mrs. Tressler continued her residence in the same home until she too was summoned on last Sunday morning, April 18. Before her husband's death, the couple had celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

Four children were born to this union. One child, Howard, died in infancy, and another son, Burnice, passed away in January of 1947.

Mrs. Tressler held her membership in Grace E. U. B. church, Story City, and was faithful in attendance at the services of the church so long as the health of her husband permitted, and so long as she herself was able.

In recent months she repeatedly expressed her regrets to her pastor in not being able to be in her place at worship and in the organizational meetings of the church.

Our departed sister had been in noticeable declining health for the most part, she was able to be up and about her work. A number of weeks ago, she sustained a foot injury, fro which she was seemingly recovering. However, early last Sunday (Easter) morning at 6:15 o'clock, she passed on to be with her maker. She had reached the age of 79 years, 3 months and 21 days.

Surviving this loss are two children, Maurice Tressler and Marshalltown, and Gladys Tressler Johnson of Story City. Also seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren remain.
