The following obituary was read at the funeral service:

Geo. Troutner, the son of Leonard and Cathryn Troutner, was born on March 5, 1871 in Gree Castle, Penn., and died of a heart attack at his home north of Colo on the evening of May 14, 1945, at the age of 74 years, 2 months, and 10 days.

Geo. came with his parents to Iowa and the Colo community from his home in Penn., at the age of six. These past many years he has lived in this community on the farm where he departed from this life.

In youth he was baptized in and united with the Lutheran church.

On Sept. 19, 1899, he was united in marriage with Sylvia Bartlett, who died on Sept. 8, 1929.

Those who have gone before him are: his parents, three brothers Andrew, Paul and Fred, and one sister, Emma.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are one sister, Ida Troutner, and a number of nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends.

He has gone. His place in the home is no longer filled, but abiding are the memories which shall never die.
