Mrs. F. J. Eckels Died Suddenly; Funeral Sunday

Mrs. Jennie Wadsworth Eckels, 80, widow of the later F. J. Eckels and for fifteen years a resident of this community, died very suddenly while seated before the radio at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. G. Hutchinson at Lake City, Thursday evening at 9:30.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at Lake City, after which the body will be brought to Nevada and a service held at Central Presbyterian church at 3:30, with Rev. Couchman of Lake City assisted by Rev. Jos. M. Kennedy of Nevada, in charge. Burial will be in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery by the side of the husband Frank J. Eckels, who died two years ago last August.

Mrs. Eckels had been making her home with her son Herron A. Eckels and family at Murray, Iowa, but in the fall had gone to Lake City for winter's visit at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jennie Hutchinson at Lake City, at whose home she died.

The Eckels family had come to Nevada in 1901 from Illinois and located on a farm two mile north of town, where they lived until 1916, when they left here for Boulder, Colorado. They lived at Boulder for ten years, after which they located at Lake City, where two of their daughters were then living.

Later they broke up housekeeping and the husband died at the home of his son at Murray about two years ago.

They leave two sons and three daughter, besides 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The daughters are Jennie, Mrs. G. G. Hutchinson at Lake City, Maria, Mrs. R. O. Hutchinson of Waterloo and Margaret, Mrs. Charles Bowden of Alliance, Ohio.

While Mrs. Eckels has suffered a bad attack of heart trouble just before Christmas, she had been up and around and had fully retained all of her faculties and interests in affairs and her sudden death was a distinct shock to the family and friends.
