Services Held Monday P.M. For F. J. Eckels

Funeral services for F. J. Eckels of Oakland, Iowa, former Nevada resident, who died in the Jennie Edmondson Hospital in Council Bluffs at 4:30 a. m. Saturday were held Monday p. m. in the Congregational church in Oakland. Burial was in the Oakland cemetery by the side of his wife who died seven years ago.

The deceased, a graduate of the Nevada high school and superintendent of the Oakland schools for seven years, was owner and operator of the Oakland Shady Lawn Motel and Cafe. Eckels was shot in the shoulder last Wednesday night when he was locking the motel office door about midnight. He was taken to the Council Bluffs hospital where his death occurred as stated.

Surviving are his brother, Herron Eckels of Murray, and his sisters, Jennie, Mrs. George Hutchinson of Sioux City, Mrs. Maria Hutchinson of Waterloo and Mrs. Margaret Borden of Pennsylvania.

The F. J. Eckels family were residents of Nevada for several years, living on a farm just north of Nevada and attending the Nevada schools. Mr. and Mrs. Eckels and the sons, Ben and Jimmie, are buried in the Nevada cemetery.

The deceased and other members of his family graduated from Nevada schools.
