SUDDEN DEATH OF FORMER LOCAL MAN

BERT H. ALLEN DROPPED OVER DEAD AT HIS HOME IN AMES

Bert H. Allen, 52, dropped dead from a stroke of apoplexy at his home in Ames Sunday forenoon. The funeral services will be held at the Duckworth funeral home in Ames Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, after which the body will be brought to the Nevada cemetery for interment.

The news of the sudden death of Mr. Allen came as a great shock to his brother Dorr Allen and sister Mrs. A. W. R. Boller in this city. He had been in his usual health, had gone into his bedroom to change his clothes, and was sitting on the edge of the bed, when he suddenly dropped over dead.

Bert Allen was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Allen, and was born and raised in Nevada. He had lived in Ames for probably 20 years. For some years he had been employed as book keeper for Ben Cole, contractor.

He leaves besides his wife, two sons, Lyle Allen of Ames and Galen Allen, now a student at Cornell college. Also his mother, Mrs. Ira Allen and sister Mrs. Belle Frazier, Mrs. Georgia Doggett and Mrs. Faye Gilchrist of Ames and brother Dorr Allen and sister Mrs. Flo Boller of this city.

He was 52 years of age, having been born in this city on January 12, 1876.
