AGED VETERAN PASSES AWAY

Hamilton County Pioneer Veteran Dies Friday Night at Soldiers Home at Marshalltown. Funeral Here Yesterday

Aarndt Anfinson, one of the pioneers of the southern part of Hamilton county passed away at the Iowa Soldiers Home at Marshalltown last Friday evening after a few days' sickness of double pneumonia. The corpse was sent here Monday and funeral services were held yesterday afternoon from Bergen church, where he had been a member of the congregation.

Aarndt Anfinson was born in Skaanevig, Stavanger, Norway, December 5, 1843, and at the age of fourteen years came with his parents to this country, making there home in Lisbon, Ill. Here he grew to manhood and when the Civil War was on, he enlisted August 8, 1862, in Company E, 91st Illinois infantry, serving his adopted country three years. He was discharged July 12, 1865, at Mobile, Alabama, and returned to Lisbon where he was later married. After a few years they moved with their family to Hamilton county, living on their farm five miles northwest of here, where his wife died about twenty-two years ago. Their union was blessed with ten children, eight of whom survive their father. They are, Miss Anna Anfinson, Mylo, N. D.; Henry Anfinson, Mylo, N. D.; Tome A. Anfinson, Radcliffe; Osten Anfinson, Lake Chrystal, Minn.; Carl Anfinson, Mylo, N. D.; Mrs. Gust Markhus, Mylo, N. D.; Mrs. Ole Carlson, Worthington, Minn., and George Anfinson, Mylo, N. D.

Mr. Anfinson entered the Iowa Soldiers Home at Marshalltown, February 5, 1905, and during his stay there enjoyed good health, until just a few days before his death, when he contracted double pneumonia and death resulted as stated above.
