Mr. Erickson lived on his farm north of Roland until 1897, when he moved to Story City, where he has lived since. The first sixteen years he lived in Story City, he was traveling a great deal looking after his land holdings, of which he had a great deal, both in Iowa, the Dakotas and Cuba. About 9 years ago he had a light stroke which he never recovered from. He has been bedfast the last four years. Although he has been sick for a long time, death came very suddenly. Besides his wife and five children, he also leaves two brothers, Lars in Washington and Oliver in Canada, nine grand children and one great grand child.

Mr. Erickson was a hard working man. He got used to hard work from his childhood and he kept itup as long as he was able. As a result of his foresight and intense labors he amassed considerable wealth. Among his larger benefactions was a gift of $5,000 to the mission of the Hauge's synod and $1,000 to the Story City old people home.
