MARION CHANCE

Marion Clark Chance, 77. R. R. 1, died Sunday, Sept. 22, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the First Christian Church, Zearing, with the Rev. Eldon Jandebeur officiating. Burial will be in the Zearing Cemetery.

Marion Chance was born April 18, 1908, in Zearing to Edgar William and Myrtle (Van Patter) Chance. He was a 1930 graduate of the University of Iowa. In 1937 in Galena, Ill., he married Anna Christianson, who died in 1946. He married Marian Bradley on July 1, 1967, in Ames.

He taught, coached and was an administrator in area schools which included Clemons, Liscomb, Huxley, Stanhope, Gilbert and Colo, where he spent 26 years before retiring in 1973.

He was a member of the NRTA, Iowa State Educational Association and American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include his wife, Marian, a daughter, Mariane Wageman of Topeka, Kan., a step-daughter, Beth Swanson of 4111 Alpin Road, four grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and two brothers, Eldon Chance and Howard Chance, both of Zearing.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna, and two brothers.

Visitation at Stevens Memorial Chapel will be Monday afternoon and evening. The family will receive friends 7-8 p. m.

A memorial has been established and gifts may be sent to the home, R R 1, Ames.
