From Nevada Representative March 19, 1912 (page 1)

Death of Mrs. Leffingwell

Mrs. J. Q. Leffingwell, a longtime resident of Nevada, died Friday at the county farm, her funeral service was conducted by Rev. R. W. Matheny Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church, and interment was in the family lot at the Nevada cemetery. Her age was about 77. The Leffingwells were worthy people whose home was long on Pine street. Mr. Leffingwell was a blacksmith and wagon maker who passed away several years ago and the beloved daughter and only child, who had become the wife of W. P. Hale, preceded her father in death at the Leffingwell home. Mrs. Leffingwell was born Emily Saunders. She was sister of Mrs. Alf. Goodin and Mrs. J. E. McCready, and is so far as known, survived by no relative in these parts excepting her brother-in-law, J. E. McCready at State Center. She came to Nevada in 1857 and was one the few still remaining who came here before the war. Her death will bring thoughts of sadness to many old friends and acquaintances.
