From Nevada Representative September 9, 1885 (page 2)

DIED--In this city last Thursday night, E. G. Day, aged 59 years and 9 months. The deceased was born and married in Ohio and came to Story County in 1855 where he had since resided. He had three children, Lillie, who was married to J. A. King in 1880 and who died in 1881, Chas. Nixon, who is now in Kansas, and one other who did not grow up. Mr. Day was a very highly esteemed man. Shortly after coming here he was appointed county clerk; and was subsequently elected to the same position. He resigned to go into the war, where he belonged to the quartermasters department. He was elected county treasurer in 1869 and 1871 and several times justice of the peace. His later years were clouded by financial misfortune, in which he had the sympathy of all. His wife was at Pierre, Dakota, at the time of his death, but arrived in time to attend the funeral which was conducted Saturday by Rev. J. Fegtley.
