Funeral Services for John J. Irvine Were Held Friday

Private funeral services for John J. Irvine, 79, who died at his home in Shipley Wednesday, were held at the Morfoot Funeral home Friday afternoon, with Rev. C. E. Lookingbill in a charge, and Mrs. Irene Dobson at the piano. Burial was in the cemetery at Colo.

John James Irvine was born near Dublin, Ireland, January 16, 1859. He was one of a family of ten children who with his father, mother, sisters and brothers, came to this country when he was a boy of seven. They settled in Illinois and then later moved to Marshall County, Iowa. In December 25, 1891, he was united in marriage to Alveretta Watkins and to this union were born two daughters, Jessie Irvine and Susie Barker, who have cared for him in his last years. His wife preceded him in death several years ago.

He passed away at his home in Shipley April 28, 1938, at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 12 days. He was baptized in the Methodist church and lived faithfully until death. He was a loving father and a good neighbor and will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all those that knew him.
