Robert L. Thorlton.. The subject of this brief life sketch was born near Grinnell, Jasper county, Iowa, September 24, 1856, and departed this life at the home of Chas. Bryant, near Colo, Iowa, November 27, 1914. Aged 58 years, 2 months, 3 days. He was the son of James and Sarah Lackey Thorlton. He leaves to mourn his departure, three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Roxy Ann Powers, of Gage, Montana, Mrs. Sylvia Robinson, Formosa, Kansas, Henry Thorlton of Drummond, Oklahoma, William Thorlton of Alliance, Nebraska, Mrs. Minerva Mullen of Maywood, Nebraska. The last named being the only one permitted to follow him to his last resting place. An an early age he moved with his parents to Marshall, county and at the age of 14 to Story county. Later he spent some years in Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri, returning again to Iowa and locating in Marshall county where he lived until the death of his mother in 1907, after which he made his home with Chas. Bryant near Colo till, in the spring of 1913, he took up a claim in Montana. Since last spring he has been working in Nebraska. A few days ago he returned to spend the winter at the Bryant home. On Thursday of last week he suddenly became ill and soon lapsed into unconsciousness and passed away early Friday morning. The funeral was held at the Summit church on Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. E. H. Heverly, of Colo.
