Services Held For E. E. Jones, Feb. 8

Funeral services were held for E. E. Jones Monday afternoon at two o'clock in the Christian church with Rev. R. A. McDonald officiating. Mrs. Kenneth Tomlinson sang "Be Still, My Soul" and "Beyond the Sunset" and was accompanied by Mrs. Hugh Fertig.

Mrs. Mercie Wear and Mrs. Marie Morrison took care of the flowers. Casket bearers were William Huntrods, Wilford Barrett, Richard Holland, C. R. Stone, P. J. Wetrich and Harold Hale.

Burial was in the Collins Evergreen cemetery in charge of the Brouhard Funeral Service of Zearing.

Obituary

Eli Edward Jones, son of James Madison and Loucinda Jones, was born in Collins May 9, 1880 and died at the Wilden Hospital in Des Moines Feb. 5, 1960 at the age of 80 years, eight months and 27 days.

He lived his entire life in the Collins area, being in the grocery and car selling business and at the time of his death was in the insurance business.

On March 1, 1899 he was united in marriage to Nina Pearl Evans, who died Dec. 27, 1902. To this union were born two boys, Clarence and Cecil. On Dec. 31, 1905 he was married to Rhoda Cooper and to this union were born two children, Velma and Edwin.

On April 11, 1928 he was married to Ann Crabb, who survives him. Mr. Jones is also survived by his sons Clarence Jones of Merced, Calif., Cecil Jones of San Jose, Calif. and his daughter Velma, Mrs. Frank Boozell of Collins. Six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Flora Luing of Canby, Minn., three nieces and a host of friends also survive.

Ed suffered a heart attack in September and spent much of the time in the hospital since then. His son Edwin died Feb. 27, 1932.

Mr. Jones and his sons Clarence and Cecil became members of the Collins Christian church on Sept. 14, 1913 under the ministry of Rev. A. V. Hart.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Eli Edward Jones married 3 times: (1) Nina Pearl Evans, daughter of Calvin Ray Evans and Martha E. Guy, on 1 June 1899 in Nevada, Story County, Iowa. Nina died 27 December 1902 in Collins, Story County, Iowa. Eli married (2) Rhoda Ellen (Thompson) Crabb, daughter of John Wellington Crabb and Ann Elizabeth Angelo, on 19 January 1902 in Collins, Story County, Iowa. Rhoda had been previously married to Byron L. Cooper. Byron died 2 January 1904. Eli married (3) Anna Barbara (Link) Crabb, daughter of Jacob G. Link and Margaret Endris, on 11 April 1929 in Nevada, Story County, Iowa. Anna had been previously married to William Vincent Crabb who died 3 May 1923 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.
