William Ellery "Bill" Creger (1934-2019)

From Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home & Crematory obituary, Nevada and Maxwell, Story County, Iowa:

William Ellery Creger (Bill), 85, of Maple Grove, MN, formerly of Maxwell, Iowa passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center, Iowa. The graveside ceremony is open to the community.

Bill was born July 21, 1934, in Clear Lake, IA, the son of Ralph E. and Leota S. (Smith) Creger. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines and went on to earn his master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University. Bill was united in marriage to Ruthann Polley on August 23, 1958 in Roslyn, PA. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy and the Naval Reserve for 22 years. Bill worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation as the Assistant Director of Advanced Planning from 1972 until his retirement in 1992.

Bill enjoyed raising Hereford cattle and when his children were young, supporting them in sports and 4-H. His farm was his greatest joy next to being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruthann of Maple Grove, MN; his children: William E. (Jeanne) Creger of Birmingham, AL, Cathleen M. (Larry) Coughenour of Wayzata, MN and Thomas E.K. (Pam) Creger of Cedar Falls, IA and six grandchildren.

Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Maxwell, Iowa is handling arrangements.
